Step 1: Find a sponsor. Ask a parent or a teacher or your favorite uncle or the lady next door if she will sponsor you for this project. Show your sponsor the packet that you will print out, and ask if they will cover the small expense of this project, which is only about $5 per project. (You can have more than one sponsor and you can do this project more than once.)
Step 2: Find a partner. Ask a friend or brother or sister or even your sponsor to be your partner for this project. You can choose which role you will play and your partner can fill the other role. The one who is a better reader can do the asking (conduct the survey), and the one who is a better writer can record the information (collect the data). If you don't have a partner, it's okay to do it on your own.
Step 3: Gather your materials. Your project packet materials can be printed from the links below! If you can print the cards on business card forms, that's good, or on thick paper. If you cannot get business card forms or card stock paper, use regular paper, and cut them neatly. The page to make cards should be printed twice, so there is the picture on the front and the FAS facts on the back. If you think you will be tempted to eat some of the candy bars, ask your sponsor to buy some extras for you and your partner. Get a pencil or pen and a clipboard, put on a smile, and you are ready to go!
Don't forget safety and etiquette. It is best not to approach people you don't know unless your sponsor is with you. Try not to disrupt classroom teaching (unless your teacher gives you permission to do this in class) or events like church services or plays. If someone you approach has already taken the survey, then ask someone else, or it could ruin the results of the survey. Be polite, smile, and say please and thank you.
Materials: If you have a fast connection, print the doc files (1"margins):
Cover Page ~ Sponsor Letter ~ Instructions ~ Survey ~ Data Sheet ~ Fact Cards
If you have a slow connection, print the HTML files (1"margins):
Cover Page ~ Sponsor Letter ~ Instructions ~ Survey ~ Data Sheet ~ Fact Cards
Note: Print the Fact Cards using 1/2 inch margins.   Print the Data Sheet in "landscape" page setup
Good luck! And thank YOU for being a part of this very important project.
